Osiris, Egypt’s Sunken Mysteries Exhibition

 I went to the "Institut du Monde Arabe" to see the  “Osiris, Egypt’s Sunken Mysteries” exhibition this morning.

And it was a really cool and interesting one. To be able to see the quality of some statues and pieces that were a thousand years old and still in perfect shape after being found underwater...It was impressive!

Last exhibition I went to see about Cleopatra, it was nice but lacking of originality and informations. Here, tons of detailled informations, huge or small pieces and videos to give some rythm to the exhibition.
A really cool way to spend a sunday morning!

It was made of pink granite and was found underwater.

A hippopotamus with lion paws that represent fertility. 

She swallowed the sun to give birth to the stars every evening

I thought it was a sweet and cute description ! :-D

Impressions
For me, fashion design was always about sketching and drawing to let your ideas out before deciding to create a model. Seeing this book, I thought it was perfect way to learn more about the profession and what is behind the stage.

Let me tell you that I was really impressed by the diversity of the art, the quality of the artists and the way the book was made.

I've liked how you are introduced to the creators with a bio, their advices and motivational quotes to beginners, who will be interested in a carreer in the fasion industry.

Of course, they all have their specificities and I was draw to some of them more than others. But I've really enjoyed reading about their works and how they see it.

You can also see the designers using differents medium: watercolor, sketch, collage, digital, even some street art style. Work with colors or black and white. There is not really a difference with another artists. It's just their attention that is focusing on clothes, materials instead of canevas, packaging or a book cover.

It was a very enjoyable read. Interested. Full of great illustrations, advices and a nice way to see fashion..

Narrow street

I've started this watercolor/color pencil drawing during the Holidays but I was, once again, having trouble with perspective.

The doors on my left walls are bending, the walls are moving too. LOL!

But it was a fun view to try. I was cursing a lot since the staircase is not good and I haven't succeed in adding some depth in it.

Anyway, I like it with its flaws and i like the right wall. Let just see that it's a distorted view of a street on Mars... :-D

Hope you have all enjoyed some great celebration and that you are ready to start 2016 full of creative energy!

Since I've spent the most prolific year of my life, in 2015, by being able to challenge myself to try new mediums and to produce more way to express myself through art, I'm happy of my achievement. And just hope to keep the same motivation and to continue to explore.

I have no goal or resolution for 2016 but I have promised myself, I will try pastels. Never tried so it will be the good time to do so. Will continue to work on watercolor and may even try people. :-D
