I'm not really at ease with colors since I like to draw in black and white. But I've decided to try new things and challenge myself in 2015.
Seems like I've started in advance… lol!
Blending colors are not so easy. If I can mess up with the lines and have a correct result with the eyes...
I'm much more in difficulty when I need to add texture and relief to my object.
It's the case with the cup of tea. It's flat. Need to work on the light, the shadows and understand how to do it.
This cup was my first attempt. Not good but it was fun to try.
I've also try different technique to use the watercolor pencils. First by drawing and adding water. Then, by adding water and applying the pencil on it.
I've also seen a tutorial on Youtube were you using a scalpel to have small amount of pigments. It's for the sky when you already have painted the scenery…just to add a light color to the background.
Of course, I've wanted to try it but with green colors…
Jeez! Can't seem to be able to follow a single rule!
I was playing with ink and a card to create a realistic birch…Messed up all my trees outcome by adding the green…
He he he! Really need to practice and stop playing around!
Now, you know where to find me for the next couples of days… Buried under papers, water and pencils…Cursing!
Hands are always hard to draw. As I was discussing nude with a friend who is used to paint them, I've realised that I've never tried body parts or faces since I've move from manga to animals.
My first try was from a sexy picture. I like the hand even she is too huge and muscular for the hips
on A4 paper.
I still have to work on my perspective!
I've also noticed while drawing that I like men's hands.
Hands speak almost as loudly as words.
There is power, ownership, dominance in this photo that is very intense.
And maybe it's a part of the reason I've chosen this photo in the first place.
The intensity of this eagle eyes has catched mine.
It was a birthday gift for a friend of mine who can see people just because he pays attention to details. Not always comfortable to be under his scrutiny but he is a great guy.
The progression of the drawing...
The feathers were long and hard to draw since I had to darker the surface to be able to create the white. Still need to learn how to do that faster and better.
Here is the original picture. Don't know what this eagle is thinking about but the stillness and its stare are powerful. An amazing shot.
More than two years without touching a pencil and then suddenly... BIRDS Two years ago, I started a new series on birds's feathers. I've decided to start with a parrot. Something that you should know... I do not really like the little beasts at all. I find them murky and creepy. They follow you with their beady eyes I immediately imagine the movie "The Birds" by Hitchcock. If I really enjoyed myself with the head, beak and eyes, I fumbled with the feathers. So much that drawing started to become an obligation to finish more than really enjoying myself. In the end, I've decided to switch to something else.
THE TREE To take a break, I wanted to work more on the material. So, I opted for a squirrel in a tree.
If the trunk, bark and knots in the wood have asked me time and application, once arriving at the animal, my motivation have dried completely. Too bad, because I liked the rendering of the tree. Evene if I think the squirrel is cute, I had no inspiration. So I looked for another challenge.
TRY AGAIN As I'm very stubborn, I started with bird feathers again. This time, an eagle. Ok, maybe it's not recognizable. Lol! Bear with me and try to imagine a bird that a gust of wind would have messed up its hair or it could have received some lightning. The choice is yours ... Same problem! Arriving at the bottom of the design, I lost my concentration and pleasure. I put my pencil down and I did not pick it up for two years. NEW THINGS Meanwhile, a start a blog on books (http://newbooksonmyselves.blogspot.fr/). I tested also some ink painting on rice paper. I try drawing goldfish and bamboo. A technique more difficult to master that it seems due to the delicacy and fragility of the paper. If you're interested watch this awesome tutorial...

WRITING I also took time to write two novels in
French. The first one, I proposed it last year in a contest for
children / teenagers (8 to 17).
If I was happy to be able to lay a
story, plot and characters in three months, with hindsight, my text
was boring to death. Lol!
Then, earlier this year, I returned to
work on it again. Completely changed, i've only retained two scenes,
I confess being more satisfied with the result. Even if it still
takes work.
EAGLE Finally, a week ago after sending my
novel for a new contest, a fantasy one this time, I went back to my
drawings.
I finished my eagle, because I do not
like unfinished business, and I found pleasure in starting to draw
again.
Now, I should be able to offer new ones
very soon ... I'm on an idea of a pocket watch, an eye, some lips or
new animals. Always lions and maybe a fox ... Unless I go after some
hands or stilettos. Will see...
Ok, I've taken some vacation from by blog. Too much work and not enough time to spend on the internet. A lazy excuse...Probably. But no big deal. I haven't quit drawing. So here I am again to show you my latest creations. After the colorfull lion, I've decided to perseverate with the wildlife creatures to improve my hairs drawing.
The most difficult part was the white hair. It wasn't easy to try to be realistic without compromising everything.
How to show the lion's mustache without erasing the rest of my drawing. After a lot of crying, I may have a track...
